Why KosTap Exists: From a Simple QR to a Hospitality Platform
KosTap started in Kos to make hospitality information easier to find, understand, and use—combining a Business Page and a multilingual Restaurant Menu behind stable links and QR codes.

Many hospitality tools start with a feature: a QR code, a link page, a digital menu. KosTap started with a day-to-day problem: guests needed answers quickly, teams needed fewer repetitive questions, and businesses needed a public presence that could change without reprinting anything.
Built in Kos, Greece—where venues serve people from many countries every day—KosTap evolved from a multilingual menu into a platform with two distinct products: KosTap Business Page and KosTap Restaurant Menu. Together (in the Enterprise plan), they create a single, stable entry point for guests: one scan that always leads to the right next action.
The original problem: information was everywhere (and nowhere)
If you run a restaurant, café, bar, or hospitality venue, you’ve likely experienced this exact scenario:
Your phone number is on an old flyer, but not where guests look first.
Your Google Maps pin is correct, but guests still ask “Where exactly are you?”
Your Wi‑Fi password gets repeated dozens of times per shift.
Your menu changes faster than printed menus can keep up.
Tourists can’t understand dish names, ingredients, or what they’re actually ordering.
A happy guest wants to leave a review, but can’t find the right link in the moment.
None of these are “big” problems on their own. But together, they create friction—small delays and misunderstandings that cost time, clarity, and sometimes sales.
KosTap was created to reduce that friction by organizing what guests need before they order, what they need while they choose, and what teams need during service—without turning hospitality into an impersonal checkout flow.
KosTap today: a platform with two products (not one one-size-fits-all tool)
KosTap is not “just a QR menu” anymore. It’s a single platform that can be activated in three ways, depending on what your business needs:
KosTap Business Page for your public presence and guest actions (links, contact, maps, reviews, Wi‑Fi, files, and more).
KosTap Restaurant Menu for a multilingual digital menu plus operational tools for the dining room.
KosTap Enterprise to combine both products in one subscription—so one QR can connect guests to your public presence, menu, and available services.
This distinction matters. A small coffee bar may only need a clean, branded landing page with directions, Instagram, and Wi‑Fi. A busy taverna may start with the menu. A hotel restaurant may need both—connected.
The QR code is the entry point. The value is what you can change behind it.
Most QR tools stop at generating a code. KosTap is designed around a different idea: a stable link for every active QR. That means you can update prices, items, photos, colors, or links, and the printed QR still points to the same public page.
In practice, this is what makes QR truly useful in hospitality. You don’t want to reprint table tents because you changed a cocktail price. You want to update the content and keep service moving.
One important control point: if the owner permanently deletes a QR from the dashboard, the public link is removed too—so printed codes stop working. This is intentional, and it protects ownership and control.
KosTap Business Page: the “first impression” page guests actually use
The Business Page is built for the moment a guest wants to do something quickly: call you, find you, message you, leave a review, connect to Wi‑Fi, or open the right link without searching.
With KosTap Business Page, a business can add:
Branding: logo, cover image, background image, and custom colors.
Ready-to-use actions: 38 built-in buttons for calls, messages, social media, maps, reviews, reservation and delivery platforms.
Custom links: up to 20 custom icons for the actions that match how you operate.
Contact card that visitors can save on their phone.
Wi‑Fi details with easy password copy.
Direct Google review link for frictionless feedback.
WhatsApp location sharing (useful when guests need to send their location to someone).
Multilingual link rows (up to 20 language versions).
Files (PDF/Word/Excel/image up to 4MB) as button content.
From the dashboard, buttons can be reordered using a live preview, and the page updates without changing the public link. The dashboard also tracks scans and button interactions, so you can see what guests actually tap—not just that the QR exists.
KosTap Restaurant Menu: a multilingual menu designed for clarity (and service)
The Restaurant Menu is a digital menu for restaurants, cafés, bars, beach bars, and hospitality venues that serve an international audience. The guest experience is simple: no app, no account. They scan, choose a language, and read the current menu in their browser.
On the business side, the menu is managed from a dashboard where you organize categories, subcategories, products, descriptions, and prices—and publish changes to the same link.
The menu supports:
10 languages: Greek, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Dutch, Russian, Turkish (any can be your base language).
AI translations for names, descriptions, categories, and subcategories (with the option to edit).
Live availability so you can hide an item that’s sold out without rebuilding the menu.
Dual-language display (explained below) to reduce misunderstandings between guests and staff.
Branding: logo and cover image.
Currency selection from supported platform currencies.
Export options: print or save as PDF via the browser, plus download an SVG per language.
QR download: generate and download the QR code as a PNG image.
The dual-language menu layer: translation that still works at the table
Translation alone doesn’t solve the real service problem. If the guest reads in one language and the staff uses another, you still need a shared reference in the moment of ordering.
KosTap’s dual-language menu layer keeps each menu item as one shared reference with multiple language versions. When a guest selects a different language, they see the translated name and description—and also the business’s base language right underneath. That way, the guest can point to the item and both sides are looking at the same dish.
This reduces back-and-forth explanations and helps prevent mismatched expectations (especially with local dishes, seafood, allergens, or unfamiliar ingredients).
Menu Tools: operational features for staff (not guest self-checkout)
When your plan includes Restaurant Menu (or Enterprise), KosTap can also activate Menu Tools—features designed for the team’s workflow.
These tools include:
Online reservations: you set operating days/hours, closed dates, reservation duration, prep time, min/max people, availability rules (tables or covers), and reservation types. Guests submit a request from a public page and receive email updates when confirmed, rejected, or cancelled.
Table floor plans: create areas and tables with stable identities used across reservations, staff assignments, and orders.
Staff-created orders: owner, administrator, or waiter can create an order for a table, add items and notes, and move it through statuses (pending → preparing → ready → completed/cancelled).
Payment recording: staff can mark orders as paid by cash or card in the dashboard (KosTap is not a customer-facing online payment gateway).
Order printing: send orders to configured kitchen printers via a local print bridge, or print via the browser if no printer is configured.
Staff accounts: owners can create administrators and waiters with separate credentials, avoiding password sharing. Waiters can be linked to specific tables.
It’s important to be precise: the public menu experience is focused on reading and understanding the menu. The ordering and payment indicators above are staff/dashboard tools, not guest self-ordering or online checkout.
Choosing the right activation: Business Page, Restaurant Menu, or Enterprise
Here’s a practical way to decide:
Choose Business Page if your main goal is to centralize guest actions (call, directions, Instagram, reviews, Wi‑Fi, files) behind one branded QR.
Choose Restaurant Menu if you need a multilingual menu that you can update daily, plus operational tools like reservations and staff ordering.
Choose Enterprise if you want one connected system where your Business Page can lead guests to your menu and services in a single flow.
KosTap also offers a 30-day free trial (one-time per account) that includes access to the full platform with a limited number of AI credits—so you can build a real page and a real menu before committing.
What this means for hospitality teams
KosTap’s philosophy is simple: technology should make contact easier, not replace it. The goal isn’t to remove people from service. It’s to remove confusion, repetition, and scattered information—so your team can spend more time on actual hospitality.
Whether you start with a Business Page, a multilingual Restaurant Menu, or both, the outcome is the same: a stable QR entry point that stays useful even as your business changes week to week.
If you want to explore the platform, you can review the product pages for KosTap Business Page and KosTap Restaurant Menu, and compare plans before starting a trial.
